We’ve all wondered what it’s like to be colourblind – and we’ve all heard those myths about what people see if they have the condition, so we did some digging to find out exactly what they do see.
Colourblindness impacts about one in ten men, while it is significantly more rare in women.
There’s a lot of speculation over what you can and can’t see when you are colourblind. The truth? People with colourblindness can see “most colours”, but certain colours fade into what has been dubbed “indistinct”.
If you have a pack of 36 coloured pencils, they can see about 12 shades of those coloured pencils.
They also find it hard to distinguish red from orange, black from navy blue – like colours are indistinguishable.
