Adelaide was the hottest Aussie capital city on Friday morning ahead of rain and possible thunderstorms due to hit the city from late morning.

FIVEAA Breakfast’s Will Goodings reported the temp was still 29.3 degrees at 6:15am — “which makes us the hottest capital city in Australia at this moment. We’re pipping Darwin”.

Co-host David Penberthy said he had “made the fatal error of popping out into the backyard at about 5:15am for my coffee”.

“I got outside and I went: what! It really hits you. It’s like when you get off the plane in KL or Jakarta and you feel like someone’s thrown a bucket of warm water over you.”

The temp was actually a touch lower than expected, with the overnight minimum forecast not to go below 30.
