Adelaide Crows AFLW star Ebony Marinoff’s three-week suspension for “forceful front-on contact” with GWS recruit Brid Stack has been blasted as “the worst moment the AFL tribunal’s ever had”.

Brid fractured her neck in the incident, which many considered a freak accident.

Adelaide has announced it will appeal the suspension.

According to FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe:

“Brid Stack is 36, played her whole career in Ireland. She’s played her first ever AFL game and she has fractured her C7. She is out of hospital and expecting a 100 per cent recovery. That’s our first thought. Brid we are so happy for you…

“For me it was a footy collision – it was an accident. Brid’s approach for me was wrong. She led with her head. I’m not saying it was 100 per cent her fault… Eb actually did stop. I’ve watched this 100 times – she stopped, she propped, she put her arms out. Other than jumping out of the way what else could she have done… what did she do wrong?

“Three weeks is a third of the season. Give me a spell.”

Meanwhile FIVEAA Breakfast host and football commentator Will Goodings said the hefty suspension was the worst moment in the tribunal’s history.

“Every person I’ve shown that vision to has reacted the same way and asked if it’s the right piece of vision,” Will said. “It’s the worst moment the AFL tribunal’s ever had amongst a crowded field…

“There is an appropriate sanction that already exists within the rules for what transpired and it’s called a free kick. That’s it… What else happened was a fluke. It makes me angry.”
