Chris Gayle sent spectators – and commentators – into a frenzy on Monday night when he blasted the equal-fastest 50 in T20 history, taking only 12 balls to reach the milestone.

Gayle finished with 56 from only 17 deliveries in the Renegades’ loss to the Adelaide Strikers.

His entire innings looked like this: wide, 2, 0, 6, 6, 6, 6, 2, 6nb, 6, 4, 1, 6, 1, 0, 4, 1, 0, out.

Gayle hit four sixes in a row off Greg West in the opening over of the Renegades run chase.
