Graham Cornes supports calls for a tougher AFL drugs policy.

“I agree with Leigh Matthews,” Cornesy told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA. “I think the AFL policy is a little bit lenient. I think three strikes is too many.”

“You don’t deserve a third chance, surely.

“If you can’t make that sacrifice for the privileged position you hold in society, you don’t deserve to be there.

“I don’t think that’s an unfair responsibility to put on young players.”

Cornes also said if you get caught once, “it may not be the first time you’ve done it anyway.”

“Ben Cousins went all those years without getting caught and we heard all those horrible stories about what was happening at the West Coast Eagles.”
