Crows assistant coach Matthew Clarke has scoffed at any suggestion Adelaide is again premiership favourite after its 100-point thrashing of the Fremantle Dockers.

“What were you saying three weeks ago?” Clarke asked Leith Forrest on FIVEAA… “Take yourself back. [After losses to] North Melbourne, Melbourne — was it the same commentary or did you have an entirely different perspective?”

Doc said the competition is “ridiculously even”:

“The teams that had started really strongly then had periods where they hadn’t played quite as well, and opposition teams came up and gave them a bit of a touch up — and we were in that category,” he said.

“It’s pretty clear to me that it’s a long year. To be eight wins at this stage is really pleasing, but it’s a long way to go.”

He said the Crows still needed to get better:

“Even though we’ve played some really good footy, if we want to be successful at the end of the year we’re probably going to have to play better again.”
