A new move by the Adelaide Crows could be the difference in making finals, says Stephen Rowe.
Rowey said during his FIVEAA sports show with Timmy G:
“Crows have announced a new ruck coach and I’m pretty excited about this. Matty Clarke, Riley O’Brien combination I think as a success for the pure ruck craft – let’s say it stalled. I don’t think Riley got better.
“So to bring somebody in of the calibre of Sam Baulderstone… fantastic tap ruckman… I know it’s only one trial game, but I did mention in the call I did like the touch.
“I’m going to make a massive call here: if Baulderstone as the ruck coach and Riley O’Brien can get that part of his game right, and let’s say he can connect with his midfielders a lot better with the likes of Rankine or Rachele or Dawson on the outside getting it – that is a massive tweak to how you play.
“I reckon it’s worth two spots on a ladder. That gets you in the eight, that’s how important Riley O’Brien’s ruck connection is, and they know it.”
