A temporary ban on busking in the central part of Rundle Mall could be linked to the opening of a new store.

FIVEAA Breakfast’s David Penberthy reported during Thursday’s Breaking @ 8 segment:

“It’s our understanding that this anti-busker push is linked to the opening of a new pop-up store by the high-end fashion brand Louis Vuitton. A pop-up store opened this month and it’s going to be there until the end of December aimed at the very cashed-up shopper…

“We’ve been told that Louis Vuitton has made it known to the Adelaide City Council that they don’t want buskers in the area because they think buskers don’t fit the luxury shopping experience they’re trying to create, and they’ve asked that buskers be kept away from their store.

“It does beg the question: who does Rundle Mall belong to?”
