During the week Eddie Betts nearly became the first AFL footballer to miss a game through an injury sustained in a tangle with a child’s highchair.

He explained the near-catastrophe on FIVEAA breakfast.
“I was playing with Billy Betts in the highchair, and then turning around and running back at him and making him laugh, and I spilt water on the ground,” Eddie said.
“I came back at him and slipped straight up and landed on my back.”
Ouch!
“I’m fine. Bruised a bit but I’m fine,” Eddie said.
“I went airborne. I kicked the highchair, the highchair went flying and it almost tipped over and Billy almost fell out. He started crying. He had whiplash the poor little boy.”
Don’t good players keep their feet? Will Goodings asked Eddie.
Eddie: “I didn’t have footy boots on… and there was water on the floor.”
