Two SA men have been found alive aboard their boat after they went missing at sea last week.

Tony Higgins, 57, and Derek Robinson, 48, left Coffin Bay for Goolwa last Thursday, but reported engine trouble on Friday night and were not heard from again.

Four days of aerial searching failed to locate the men and the search was called off on Wednesday night, just a short time before the men finally made contact with police.

According to a statement issued by SAPOL and reported by The Advertiser:

“Police can confirm they have made contact with the men on board the boat missing in waters south of Port Lincoln.

“About 10.20pm on Wednesday 10 September, the men on board the boat made contact with Police. Police worked with other rescue services overnight to determine the exact location of the boat.”

The men have reportedly been found at a remote location near Salt Creek.
