Port Adelaide vice captain Ollie Wines has copped criticisms from two of the game’s biggest names on the chin.

During the week Garry Lyon accused several Port players of whinging, while Paul Roos said the club was the league’s biggest underachiever in recent years.

“I try not to look at,” Ollie told FIVEAA on Frida. “The only reason I knew about that is because I got the media briefing by our media team during the week.”

“I guess when you lose two in a row — two games that people think you should win, we ourselves internally think we should win — you open yourself to criticism. Those guys are champions of the game and they’re right to have their own opinion, but internally we know what goes on and we know what we’re doing.

“A lot of us don’t read it. We don’t know what’s going on. We’ve got a lot of guys who went through a tough period six years ago when the club was on its knees and I think they’ve learnt from what happens in the media.

“It’s really good when you’re going well, you get the pats on the back, but at times when you’re on your knees you really feel that. I think we’ve learnt to grow a thick skin.”
