Ollie Wines’ role in Port Adelaide’s win over Sydney on Sunday puts his position as the club’s next captain beyond doubt, says Mark Bickley.

“Ollie Wines is the skipper of Port Adelaide next year,” Bicks said on Tuesday.

“That games was in the balance. I know Travis Boak was the fire starter as a half forward kicking a couple of goals, but Wines was unbelievable.

“He had 35 disposals, 12 clearances, he had more pressure stats than anyone on the ground. He just did it all. And the way he willed himself it was Selwood, Rory Sloane — all those great players that find a way to do it.

“The question mark was do you give it to him early and put that burden on him. But what I saw yesterday, he’s a player that would most likely revel in the responsibly.

“Done and dusted for me, he should skipper Port Adelaide next year. And that’s taking nothing away from Travis Boak… I think they can co-exist.”
