Stephen Rowe says some club doctors are more lenient than others after a dazed and confused Josh Kennedy returned to the field in Sydney’s game against GWS.

“I’m going to say it — some club’s doctors … and Sydney’s one of them … straight back out,” Rowey tells FIVEAA brekky.

“If that was a Crows player, I will guarantee you — with Dr Potter — I guarantee you he’s more severe … and [Kennedy] doesn’t go back out there.”

Rowey said Kennedy had the “wobble boots on” after he was lined up by GWS’ Steve Johnson.

“Port Adelaide got fined for sending out Hammer Hartlett — $20k fine …

“That was far less severe than this. I watched the tape back — Kennedy was knocked senseless. I mean, he had the wobble boots on … he was a baby deer.

“If there’s 18 doctors, some are more lenient than others … I’m telling you Geelong and Sydney are way up the more lenient path.”

Swans footy boss Tom Harley defended Sydney’s medical team on Monday morning …

“We’ve had four or five players ruled out from concussion [this year] — we take it really seriously,” Harley told SEN Radio.

“We take a number of things into consideration — the impact, the vision and then if you deem it appropriate to do further tests, you take the mandatory 15 to 20 minutes to go down to the rooms and do the SCAT3 test, which we did.

“It was just before quarter time, so the 20 minutes required to sit out of the game is real time, which obviously ate into the quarter time break.

“Josh did that. He passed that really clearly and was deemed (okay) to go back out on the field.

“He obviously played out the game and played really well. We repeated the SCAT3 test after the game and that was clear also.

“I’ve heard some commentary that the head is absolutely sacrosanct. For anyone to suggest that club doctors don’t have the best interest of the players at heart would be naive.”
