Premier Peter Malinauskas has revealed SA Health and SAPOL have been impacted by the nationwide Optus outage.

Mr Malinauskas said on Wednesday:

“The government department most affected by the outage has been SA Health.

“Critically we have not seen any clinical implications as a result of the outage – all clinical services within SA Health remain ongoing and are able to be performed…

“Other agencies of concern are Service SA and SA Water. Customers can still go into a Service SA centre or online but calls to Service SA are currently down.”

Optus earlier advised it was aware of an issue impacting its mobile and NBN services and was working to restore services as quickly as possible.

During an interview on Sydney radio, Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin said the telco didn’t know the cause of the outage.

“We have had issues since 4am,” she said. “The team has tried a number of parts of restoration and so far we have not had the results that we have hoped for. And we’re pursuing every avenue to get everybody back online as soon as possible…

“We’re really, really sorry that this outage has occurred and we’re working to restore services for our customers as a priority.”
