Convicted paedophile Colin Humphrys looks set to remain in prison after the upper house passed a law preventing the release of sex offenders who are unwilling or unable to change their behaviour.

According to The Advertiser:

“The Bill passed the Upper House with bipartisan support after a number of Labor amendments were rejected by the majority of MPs. The legislation is expected to pass the Lower House shortly after Question Time on Thursday afternoon.”

A decision to release Humphrys is currently before the courts. His offending record stretches back three decades.
