South Australian senator Cory Bernardi says the local student found guilty of joining Islamic State should be deported.

Former nursing student Zainab Abdirahman-Khalif, 23, was found guilty by a Supreme Court jury on Monday of being a member of Islamic State.

Mr Bernardi’s Australian Conservatives party Facebook page shared a post advising under its policies the woman would be deported.

“Conservative Party policy is for dual citizens, like African-born Abdirahman-Khalif, found guilty of terrorist offences to be deported at the earliest opportunity,” reads part of an article published on the party’s webpage.
