Sam Mitchell says he was shocked when coach Alastair Clarkson floated the possibility of his move to the West Coast Eagles.
“Clarko came over to my place,” Sam tells the FIVEAA sports show… “he came over on the day of the Brownlow.”
“[It’s] Etched in my mind quite vividly now. Just a normal sort of a chat, I thought, then he suggested would I be interested.”

“He knew that I had a good relationship with Simmo [West Coast coach Adam Simpson] and that maybe I would come and coach over here in Perth one day.
“He said would you like to go a bit earlier and start that sooner rather than later? I wasn’t sure for a while and then thought, yeah, I talk to my wife about it and see what happens… and now we’re here.”
