Two-time Sturt premiership coach Marty Mattner has reportedly joined the Adelaide Crows as an assistant coach.
AFL.com.au’s Lee Gaskin reported the SANFL club had emailed members on Monday morning.
After news of Mattner’s appointment broke on Monday, AFC’s Brett Burton told afc.com.au:
“As a player and coach, Marty knows what it takes to achieve the ultimate success.
“Not only is he a quality person but he has a proven record of helping young and experienced players alike improve their games.
“His positive influence at Sturt stretched beyond the League side to the Reserves and juniors, and we look forward to him joining our coaching department.”
Mattner played 98 games for the Crows from 2002-2007 before joining the Sydney Swans where he played 124 games and won one premiership in 2012.
He coached Sturt to back-to-back SANFL flags in 2016 and 2017.
Mattner told FIVEAA last month he had been in touch with both local AFL clubs about possible assistant opportunities in 2019.
