A severe warning for damaging winds has been issued for Adelaide and other parts of the state.

“A rain band with embedded thunderstorms will move quickly eastwards across the state during Wednesday, associated with a cold front that is expected to reach a line Tarcoola to Stenhouse Bay late morning, Hawker to Mount Gambier mid afternoon and Moomba late evening.

“North to northwesterly winds are forecast to increase ahead of the cold front early Wednesday morning.

“Damaging wind gusts of 90 to 120 km/h are possible in the west of the area early Wednesday morning then extending eastern parts later in the morning.

“Damaging wind gusts will be mostly associated with showers and thunderstorms and over elevated ground, ahead of and with the front.”
