The World Health Organisation says SA Premier Steven Marshall showed “real leadership” in adjusting the state’s hard lockdown when new info about the basis for the original decision came to light.

“Do you know what I thought when I read that? I thought, this is real leadership. This is a premier who is taking the issue really seriously and is reacting properly.
“He found the information he received was not quite in accordance with what was actually happening and he had to say to the public, I’ve got to change my recommendation from a big lockdown to a softer regime, and then he said this has happened because we got the information and it turned out it wasn’t right.
“He expressed his frustration but most importantly this guy had the confidence in his leadership to say to the public this has happened… we’re trying to get through this in the best way we can, I’m sorry we have to change plans, please be with us. I thought that’s great leadership.”
