The Salt Creek survivors are still battling with the effects of their horrific ordeal, says the reporter who interviewed them for a 60 Minutes tell all interview.

“They are as you see them — they’re very pragmatic and they’re still very strong — but they’re also honest about the impact,” Tara Brown told FIVEAA on Monday. “There is a lasting impact.”

“Beatriz in particular is fearful these days… she is a nurse and she works in a medical centre and sometimes she has to open up the medical centre before dawn and that freaks her out.

“She hates being outside on her own in the dark. She’s frightened of people, strangers — she often thinks that she’s being followed.

“Lena, too, who is such an action woman… this hasn’t stopped her but she’s certainly more cautious in her outlook and obviously takes what happened to her very seriously.

“The marks of that are still obvious.”
