South Australia could follow suit after NSW took a “wait and see” approach to reopening its border with Victoria as restrictions in Melbourne ease, says FIVEAA Breakfast’s David Penberthy.

Penbo said during Tuesday’s Breaking @ 8 segment:

“We’re certainly not trying to downplay the chances of the Victorian border opening up, but there’s a story that’s just broken out of Sydney…

“The Australian is reporting that the NSW-Victoria border could stay closed for several weeks still because the NSW government remains unconvinced that Victorian health authorities could manage a new outbreak after restriction in Melbourne are eased this week.

“It says, ‘The Berejiklian government is taking a “wait and see” approach to Victoria, concerned the slow re-opening is an indication that Daniel Andrews does not have full confidence in his state’s contact tracing.’

“You would think if NSW are being that cautious that a similar level of caution is going to exist here,” Penbo said. “We might have to wait and see before it’s time to really celebrate.”
