UPDATE, 1:34pm — Port Adelaide Issues A Statement Regarding Ollie Wines.

From PAFC:

PORT ADELAIDE is aware of recent media speculation relating to Ollie Wines’ future at the club.

As a principle, the club is generally reluctant to respond to rumours involving its players throughout the AFL trade period.

However, in this instance, given Ollie is the current co-captain of the club, Port Adelaide believes it is important to confirm that at no stage has Ollie requested a trade from our club.

Equally, at no stage has Port Adelaide contemplated trading Ollie to any other club and he remains a required player.

EARLIER…

Carlton FC was approached to consider trading for Port Adelaide co-captain Ollie Wines, according to an interstate report.

Sam Edmund, writing for the Herald Sun, says the approach “came from the Wines camp, rather than the Power,” and has been confirmed by multiple sources:

In a surprising development, the Herald Sun has confirmed the Blues were asked to weigh up making a play for the Port Adelaide co-captain.

But despite how appealing a Patrick Cripps-Ollie Wines engine room might look, Carlton is not considering it as an option in this trade period.

Sources familiar with the left-field approach — which came around two weeks ago — said it came from the Wines camp, rather than the Power.

Port officials have this year repeatedly denied Wines was up for trade. He is contracted at Alberton until the end of 2022.
