Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak rejects suggestions he’s playing out of position as a high half-forward.

On FIVEAA, Stephen Rowe asked Boak about his new role:

“For me watching, it just doesn’t seem the right role for you,” Rowey said. “I think you’re wasted.”

But Boaky whacked the comment out of the park.

“You see that, but certainly I love the role that I’m playing and feel I can give a lot to the team in that position,” Boak said.

“It’s a role that I’ve accepted and love.

“I’m probably 80 per cent forward and then 20 through the midfield, but I think as a forward you’re still coming through the midfield a lot and getting up and back a fair bit. That’s my role for the team.

“I don’t spend as much time at the centre bounces… but I still consider myself as a midfielder — just starting in the forward position.

“I’ve really enjoyed that role and probably still learning it at times.”
