The fastest man in history Usain Bolt could be playing in Australia’s national soccer comp next year.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Bolt is on “the brink” of doing a deal with Central Coast Mariners that would see him join the club for next season if he passes a six-week audition.

“In a move that would focus the sporting world’s eyes on the A-League, three months of talks have convinced both Jamaican sprint king Bolt and the Mariners that a deal can be clinched that could transform the competition’s profile for next season,” the paper reports.

The club confirmed the report in a statement on Tuesday:

“The club can confirm that it has been in negotiations with the Olympic Champion & World Record Holder, regarding the opportunity to trial here on the Central Coast,” said the statement

“The Central Coast Mariners remain committed to discussions with the ‘world’s fastest man’ and his management team, regarding what role the Club may play in Bolt’s burning ambition to become a professional footballer.”

If the deal goes through, Bolt’s trial with the Mariners could begin as soon as mid-August.
