Warren Tredrea has labelled as “social media scumbags” the people threatening Port Adelaide’s Scott Lycett following his dangerous tackle on Adelaide Crow Ned McHenry.

LISTEN HERE:

Lycett was banned for four games for the tackle, which left McHenry concussed. On Wednesday morning the club revealed it would not challenge the suspension.

Earlier Lycett said he was remorseful for the tackle but said the online abuse he had copped – including apparent threats against his parents – was “outrageous”.

Tredders told Rowey’s Sports Show:

“The intent was to tackle and to tackle hard, not to knock him out. People who say other than that are full of it.

“And the social media scumbags who want to threaten people lives – they’re even worse. That’s just gutter – ‘I know where your parents live, I know where your girlfriend lives.’”
