31 per cent of Australian dog owners are not pick up their dogs’ poops in public, according to new research.

The unfortunate news was uncovered in the recent Elanco Aussie Dog Survey, which found the figure was even higher among younger dog owners — 44 per cent of Gen Z and 39 per cent of Millennials.

The survey also found that only 35 per cent of owners always wash their hands after their touching their dog.

But on the bright side:

– 47 per cent take their dog on holiday with them once a year or more.

– 42 per cent celebrate their dog’s birthday with a ‘party’.

– 1 in 3 make ‘home cooked meals’ for their ‘fur baby’.

– 1 in 3 take their dog to cafes and restaurants regularly (this rises to 57 per cent of younger dog owners).

– 1 in 7 (14 per cent) take their dog to work with them at least once a month (again this rises to 29 per cent of younger dog owners).
