South Australian researchers says they are “three to four months” away from starting human clinical trials of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Professor Nikolai Petrovsky from Flinders University told FIVEAA’s Leon Byner on Friday:“We’ve designed and developed the vaccine. We’ve started manufacturing the vaccine. We’ve started doing tests in animal models in the US of the vaccine. “We’re hoping in the next three to four months well be able to start human clinical trials. We’re going to expedite those. The plan is to get them done and finished within a few months of starting. “Then the issue becomes when can we release the vaccine after that and that will be a discussion with the TGA and the government.”LISTEN: Flinders targets COVID-19 vaccine – full media statement here
