UPDATE (2:06pm) – Fire deemed accidental.

The MFS says the cause of the fire was accidental and was most likely started by a bar radiator left too close to a bed.

The MFS is reminding everyone to leave combustibles at least two metres from heaters.

A man has died in an Adelaide house fire.

Emergency crews were called to the Morphett Vale house about 3am on Monday.

One man escaped the fire and has been taken to hospital with minor injuries, but the body of another was found inside the home.

The survivor could not help the dead man because of the intensity of the fire, a Metropolitan Fire Service spokeswoman said.

Police and the MFS will investigate the cause of the fire.

A smoke alarm was working at the property.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.

Neighbour Joyce Heath said she was alerted to the fire when her dog woke her up.

“He was barking, going mad and he wouldn’t be quiet,” Joyce said on Monday.

“So I got up, looked out the windows, saw the flames going up. So we went out and watched it all.

“Unfortunately at the time we didn’t know anyone was still in there.”
