FIVEAA Breakfast’s David Penberthy has shared a possible explanation after Elizabeth was named Adelaide’s most dangerous suburb…
Penbo was contacted by a friend who lives in Elizabeth after analysis of SA Police data by The Advertiser showed it has the highest crime rate of any Adelaide suburb.
Penbo shared his friend’s message during Monday’s FIVEAA breakfast show:
“He says I haven’t been through all the detail in the article yet but re: Elizbeth crime, the figures show the suburb where the offence was reported. This means the small suburb of Elizabeth as distinct from surrounding suburbs… this tiny suburb of Elizabeth is pretty much dominated by the Elizabeth Shopping Centre… so if someone gets their handbag stolen out of their car, or if there’s an attempted break in on a car, or of there’s a graffiti offence – and being a magnet for human activity it’s inevitably going to attract a higher rate of crime…
“Just to take the load off the good folks of greater Elizabeth, that might explain why statistically there’s a bit of a skew there.”
