Border restrictions with regional Victoria will lift if Daniel Andrews announces the end of that state’s lockdown as expected on Wednesday – with restrictions on people from greater Melbourne set to ease next week, says SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens.

Commissioner Stevens told FIVEAA Breakfast’s David & Will on Wednesday that “everything hinges” on Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews:

“All the signs are really good and if that happens regional Victoria will have all of their restrictions removed in relation to travelling to and from SA. No self-isolating, no PCR testing. We believe the risk is very low for regional Victoria but we need to be consistent with what other jurisdictions are doing…

“The greater Melbourne area I think we’re aiming for 25 February which will be 14 days after their last community transmission. Let’s hope they hit that target as well and we can start to relax those restriction for the greater Melbourne area. People from the greater Melbourne area at that 14-day point – 25 February – when they come into SA will have to have a PCR test on day one, five and 12. Isolate until you get your day one test but then you’re free to move about the community. We need them to get those tests.”
