Police are investigating a break-in at a Tea Tree Gully hotel in the early hours of this morning.

According to SAPOL:

Police were called to the hotel on North East Road, Tea Tree Gully just after 4am on Friday 20 January by reports three men had broken into the pub and were seen dragging a cigarette machine across the road.

Patrols searched the area for the trio, who were last seen heading up Park Street towards Perserverance Road.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area and spoke to the driver.

The vehicle contained trays of cold pies and pasties, Milwaukee power tools and water meters, all suspected of being stolen very recently.

The driver, a 35-year-old Redwood Park man, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession, going equipped to commit an offence and drive disqualified.  It is likely that he will face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing to identity where the alleged stolen property was taken from, however, the man does not appear to be linked to the hotel break-in.

Crime scene investigators will attend the hotel this morning to examine the scene.

Anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity or has any dashcam footage of any vehicles near the hotel overnight is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
