David Bowie’s final music video for the song Lazarus, released three days before his death was confirmed, is being hailed a carefully planned wave goodbye.
The song begins with the lyrics: “Look up here, I’m in heaven.”
The video shows Bowie bandaged and lying in a hospital bed as he sings other lyrics which have taken on a new meaning after his death was confirmed on Monday night, including: “I’ve got scars that can’t be seen” and “Look up here, man, I’m in danger, I’ve got nothing left to lose.”

Music producer Tony Visconti says the song was a “parting gift” from Bowie to his fans.
“He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it the best way,” Mr Visconti said.
“His death was no different from his life — a work of art. He made [the album] Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn’t, however, prepared for it.”
The track’s final lines: “This way or no way, you know, I’ll be free. Just like that bluebird, oh I’ll be free.”
