- #1874 Success...And Then What? - Harps
The You Project
This episode is me thinking out-loud about success. The idea of it. The experience of it. The cultural story of it. The marketing and branding of it. What it is and isn't. Why some 'successful people' are miserable and some people that society would label poor are mentally, emotionally and experientially rich. Why we keep moving the goal posts. Why the idea of it (success) is rarely the experience of it. And lots more.

- #1873 Dodgy Backs - Dr. Jeff Gross
The You Project
Not only is Dr. Jeff a specialist in regenerative stem cell medicine, anti-aging, longevity and integrative medicine but he's also a spine fellowship trained neurological surgeon. So, not an idiot then. With that in mind, this episode we decided to talk all-things 'dodgy backs'. Muscle stuff. Skeleton stuff. Sitting-on-our-arse stuff. Exercise and rehab stuff. Dealing-with-pain stuff. Treatment stuff and lots more. This was a broadly relevant and practical conversation that I believe many people will find helpful. Enjoy.

- #1872 Perv Glasses - Patrick Bonello
The You Project
Hi Team, our tech nerd is back and here's what came up this time... Smart sunglasses with a built-in video camera/recorder that's recording you when you don't know; what could possibly go wrong? Jobs falling by the wayside as Al becomes the new much-cheaper 'preferred employee' for many companies. Nuclear batteries the size of a coin that will last without charging for a hundred years. Panic buying of vibrators (blame Patrick for that topic, not me). Why (some) people trust ChatGPT more than a lawyer for legal advice. Used EV batteries being repurposed to power homes, land plenty more. Enjoy.

- #1871 The Science & Business Of Coaching - Bobby Cappuccio
The You Project
The last two decades has seen the proliferation of 'Coaching' and not the sporting kind; the other kind. Or should I say, 'kinds'. Life Coaches. Business Coaches. Health Coaches. High-Performance Coaches. Nutrition Coaches. Relationship Coaches. Mental Health Coaches. Mindset Coaches. Leadership Coaches. Executive Coaches. Fitness Coaches. The List goes on. This time around, Bobby and I chat about what makes and good (or crap) Coach, their role, how to find one, who needs one, how it all works, what to avoid, who to avoid and we give a general insight into the industry as a whole. Enjoy. theselfhelpantidote.com

- #1870 Lucid Dreaming - Charlie Morley
The You Project
Hi TYP’ers. I’m interstate at the moment, so today we're revisiting one of my favourite chats with Charlie Morley. Enjoy. *“The essence of Buddhism: (1) don’t be a dick (2) be kind to people (3) train your mind” – Charlie Morley (Buddhist Teacher). I didn’t want this episode to end. I loved the chat, loved Charlie and yes, I love my job. Charlie was a drug-taking, hard-living, wild young man who had a NDE (Near Death Experience) and who, through a series of twists and turns, became an internationally renowned Speaker, Lucid Dreaming Expert, best-selling Author (4 books, 15 languages), Teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, Mindfulness Coach and PTSD Expert, producing incredible results with military veterans. If you don’t enjoy this episode, I’ll refund your money. Lol.

Well, Dr. Lillian and I definitely opened the vulnerability door in this episode. Personal pain, revelations, vulnerable stories and even tears, were interspersed with a liberal smattering of science, psychology, effective communication, practicality and a deep dive into the lived experience of grief, trauma, loss and the myriad of intersecting emotions. Enjoy.

- #1868 Sneaky Little Manipulators - Dr. Sam Casey
The You Project
In this episode of TYP, Dr. Sam and I chat about being 'hangry' (it's a real thing!), incidental vs. structured learning, bullying, how much praise is too much (when can it become a negative?), separation anxiety, when to give kids access to social media (etc.), kids finding their identity, the pros and cons of kids in sport, kids manipulating parents and lots more. Enjoy.

Dr. Denise pulls back the curtain, destroys the mystery and tells us about the very recent arrival of her... cellulite. She's not happy. What started out as a regular TYP episode with one of the smartest minds and best science communicators in Australia, somehow transformed into something of a private coaching session (for the Doc) - complete with laughs, lightbulbs and more personal revelations, in a not-so-private setting. This was fun and I think for many listeners, there was plenty of relevant content. Enjoy. drdenisefurness.com.au

- #1866 Why Making Babies is Getting Harder - David Gillespie
The You Project
In this episode of TYP, Gillespo and I talk about the myriad of factors and variables that influence a couple’s chances for making a baby, declining birth rates, plummeting sperm and testosterone levels and the ever-diminishing chances of becoming a parent.

- #1865 When Nobody's Cheering - Bobby Cappuccio
The You Project
Sometimes what matters most is what we can do when nobody's watching, cheering, helping or even caring. How productive and effective we can be when it's just.. us. You. Me. Having support and the occasional cheer squad is nice (of course) but some of us spend much of our lives without such gifts, without many resources and with very little external help. This is not a complaint or ploy for sympathy or pity but rather, just a statement of truth and an accurate reflection of where some people find themselves. In this episode of TYP, Bobby and I talk about this and plenty more. Enjoy. theselfhelpantidote.com

- #1864 Some Sanity In The Food Madness - Simon Hill
The You Project
Apart from being a ripping bloke, brilliant educator, great conversationalist, simplifier of - what can be - complex information and an anti-bullsh*tter, Simon Hill is one of the most respected voices (in the world) when it comes to the minefield that is, nutrition. In the middle of the sale's pitches, hysteria, food cults and pseudo-science, Simon is the sanity we need and this was one of my favourite TYP conversations this year. Enjoy. theproof.com @simonhill

- #1863 Why Choosing Easy Leads To Hard - Harps
The You Project
Here's the conundrum... people want to be strong, resilient, capable, high-performing and successful but... at the same time, they want comfort. Convenience. Instant gratification. Reward without work. Success without pain. Don't believe me? Take a look at the ocean of 'magic pills' and quick-fixes on offer to help you and me bypass the discomfort, inconvenience and effort. It all sounds very sexy but I've never met anyone who has succeeded over the long term by being obsessed with comfort and convenience in the short term. If you don't want to be coached by me (around this topic) don't listen. If you do, giddy-up.

Dr. Cam is back, sharing how to get the most out of your grey and white matter, and offering his top strategies and protocols for keeping those neurons wiring and firing at their best. The brain is one of the most neglected parts of most people's fitness and health plans but just like your biceps, glutes, or heart, it needs to be trained to function anywhere near optimally. In my opinion, most people experience cognitive decline faster than they need to - not because of age, but because they do bugger-all to keep their brain in shape. Enjoy.

Yep, you read that title correctly. This is a very different and super interesting chat with Dr. Bill about.. well, you read the title. So many interesting factors, considerations, research options, medical possibilities and stories to come out of this woman's fascinating superpower. Enjoy. **Bill Sullivan, Ph.D., is the author of 'Pleased to Meet Me: Genes, Germs, and the Curious Forces That Make Us Who We Are'. He is an award-winning professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he studies genetics and infectious disease. He's also a much-loved regular on TYP. authorbillsullivan.com

- #1860 Instinct, Intuition & Inexplicable Knowledge - Harps
The You Project
There's a kind of knowing that doesn't come from books, degrees, research papers, TED Talks or even, good-old TYP. It's not downloaded from the internet. It's not something you can Google. You didn't 'learn it’ somewhere. It doesn't ask for permission. It doesn't speak in paragraphs. It whispers. Nudges. It tugs at your sleeve. And sometimes it punches you in the gut. It's not always logical, but it's often right. It's the insight, understanding, knowledge, awareness that you somehow have, without having a f***ing clue how or why you know it. This is a chat about that.

According to Patrick, in the near future he and I will be buying twin four-legged, hydrogen-powered, robots designed by Kawasaki to be ridden by humans. He calls them 'rideable robotic wolves'. At this point I'd rather be sitting on a good old-fashioned noisy dirt bike that can't think for itself but I guess we'll see how it all goes. We also talk about speaking with dolphins (thanks to Al), modern Monopoly (the kid's game), the dangerous games and toys that existed when I was a kid, tech to help me become more of a handyman, a specific sound that cures motion sickness, Katy Perry in space (or was she?) and lots more. Enjoy.

- #1858 Neurosis, Anxiety & Trust Issues - Bobby Cappuccio
The You Project
Surprising I know, but Bobby and I have issues. There I said it. Shocker. And in this TYP instalment we talk about the pros and cons of trust, being driven by anxiety (for good and bad), navigating life with Tourette's (Bobby), the irony of people who don't have their sh*t together teaching people how to... get their sh*t together, reading between the conversational lines, surviving the occasional existential crisis, our first paid speaking gigs and lots more. Enjoy.

- #1857 The Wisdom Of Your Body - Dr. Jodi Richardson
The You Project
In some ways, Dr. Jodi and I are peas in a metaphoric pod. We've both had our battles with food, exercise, weight, body image, self-esteem, self-worth, eating issues and all the psychological, emotional and sociological stuff that intersects with the 'body' stuff. As is often the way on TYP, this conversation was not the one we intended to have, going in. Fortunately, I think it was better. Enjoy. drjodirichardson.com

- #1856 Relationships Are Tricky - Harps & Tiff
The You Project
Tricky. Complicated. Devastating. Healing. Painful. Joyful. Personal. Silly. Serious. Professional. Strategic. Selfless. Stagnant. Dynamic. Relationships are an ever-present part of the human experience (of course) and when we throw in all the psychological, emotional, physical, personal, professional, financial and practical variables, well... no wonder they're easier said than 'done'.

- #1855 What is Trauma? - Dr. Sarah Woodhouse
The You Project
Hi Team! Life at TYP central is mayhem at the moment, so we’re delving into the archives to share one of my favourite episodes with you. I will be back tomorrow with a freshie. See you then, Harps. *You wouldn’t think a conversation about trauma could be uplifting, entertaining and even fun, but this chat with Dr. Sarah Woodhouse (trauma expert, research psychologist, author and coach) is all that and more because not only is she a high level academic with a great understanding of the science, but she’s also endured her own trauma journey and come out the other side with amazing compassion, insight, energy and humour. Among other things, we discuss eating disorders, bullying and sexual abuse (all part of Sarah’s story), post-traumatic growth, the trauma spectrum (there’s a range), vicarious trauma, what trauma does to our body, healing and recovery, what causes a trauma response, the stress-anxiety-trauma relationship and why swearers are smarter than non-swearers (it’s science Bro).
