FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe says he would “just about rubber stamp” Darren Burgess’ move to the Adelaide Crows after Caroline Wilson revealed changes to the fitness guru’s Melbourne contract could pave the way for him to return to Adelaide.
Caro has told Rowey & Bicks on the FIVEAA sports show:
“There are people at Melbourne who believe he [Burgess] might be in talks with the Adelaide Crows at the moment.
“He is contracted to Melbourne but people involved in contracts are telling me if you have a three-year contract and they ask you to take a pay cut, which is what is going to be happening across the competition… once you vary that contract, it sort of becomes null and void…
“I’m not saying he’s definitely chosen to move back to Adelaide but if he does it will be for family reasons and if he does move back to Adelaide I reckon he’ll be at the Crows.”
ROWEY: “We had Warren Tredrea sit next to us – who’s a personal mate of his – and said if there’s grounds that he can get here he’ll be coming home. He wants to be with his kids on compassionate grounds. One and one equals two. I reckon I’d just about rubber stamp that one.”
