Geelong star and Brownlow medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield has been handed a ban for his tackle on Blue Matthew Kruezer on the weekend.
Danger was charged with rough conduct, the Match Review Panel announced on Monday:
“In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
“Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.”
FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe denied the tackle was made with “excessive force”.
“Patrick Dangerfield tackled perfectly, as we are taught,” he said.
“Here is the best player… and one of the hardest players in the game is out for not one week, he’s out for two weeks for a tackle we are all taught to do. The game is now officially stuffed.”
