Essendon concedes Joe Daniher has been battling injury since the preseason but is yet to make a call on sidelining the out-of-touch star.

Assistant coach Mark Harvey says a claim made by Matthew Lloyd that Daniher is set to miss up to four weeks with a groin problem was not the case — “at this stage”.

“He did have some tests yesterday afternoon, I’m not privy to those results yet, but Matthew might have some information,” Harvey told SEN.

“There will be an ongoing discussion about Joe and where he is at today.

“I think it has been catching up on him.

“Over the preseason, he had a groin issue, so we managed his preseason.

“He got that right and strengthened the area around that, but I just think with the dynamics of playing since Round 1, it might be concerning him a little bit more than what it was.

“We will have a discussion today and work out where Joe goes from here.”
