T20 powerhouse Chris Lynn puts his talent for slogging a cricket ball down to his early talent with a different ball.

“I played a lot of rugby league growing up,” Chris told the FIVEAA sports show, “so you had to have pretty good core strength wrestling those guys that are 20, 30kgs heavier.”

“I think that’s why I started to play cricket, because I like hitting sixes,” Chris said. “I like hitting the ball hard.”

“I grew up watching Haydos and Andrew Symonds and Gilchrist, watching the ball fly over the fence — and I just wanted to replicate that.

“I just try and hit the ball out of the middle because I know if I do that I give myself every opportunity to score runs.

“You always jump in on the front foot, and hopefully that puts the bowler under more pressure.”
